My supervisor provided me the opportunity to pitch ideas for Maryland Gazette's "To Your Health" health articles for the May and June stories as well as pitching a topic for the "Passport to Wellness" article for the June story. After previously writing a few ghost articles earlier in my internship, I began to think about the audience of the articles: Parents for the "To Your Health" articles and adults for the "Passport to Wellness" article.
I began by researching about various health topics in relation that the article would be published during the months of May and June. I composed a list of several topics, attached below, and proceeded to approach my supervisor with my ideas. I explained to her my five ideas, sharing the research I covered in relation to pitching the ideas in the first place. She chose my health topic of insect safety for the month of May and summer safety for the month of June. I then began to create a rough draft of the insect safety health topic and composed the "To Your Health" article for May. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time within my internship to write the summer safety article for the month of June, but I was glad to provide a topic for future use.
