Re-branding the hospital
MedStar Harbor Hospital has been serving the Baltimore community since opening in 1903. Originally named the South Baltimore Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital, MedStar Harbor Hospital now partners with MedStar Health to provide health services to the Baltimore community. In 1988, MedStar Harbor Hospital celebrated its 85th anniversary and changed the hospital name from "Harbor Hospital" to "MedStar Harbor Hospital." Since then, most of the major signs have changed at the hospital incorporating MedStar Health's logo.
I entered MedStar Harbor at a time when the marketing team was re-branding signs throughout the department with the new MedStar Harbor logo and template. Major signs previously were re-branded into the new MedStar Harbor name change, but many signs still needed to be re-branded. I used a general template of the MedStar Harbor logo to recreate fliers, slideshows and documents with the new logo. Although time consuming, this internal project altered the previous appearance of the hospital and the logo.
Below are a few of the signs I re-branded in the MedStar Harbor template. The first flier was for the Baum Auditorium highlighting important phone numbers. The second flier was created in the green MedStar Harbor template to remind associates to stay green in the hospital. The flier was posted around various parts of offices. The third flier was created for the All Spice Café to showcase the special events that the café was hosting in April.
I learned about the importance of the MedStar Harbor logo and brand. I adapted to the hospital's style guide for all written materials in relation to the hospital.
